A free service for reading and researching scripture online all in the language or translation of your choice. Provides advanced searching capabilities and various tools for study of the Bible. Hosted by Gospelcom.net, a ministry of Gospel Communications.

Christian Classics Ethereal Library

Public domain books that no "Christian Classics" library ought to be without. The director of the CCEL is Harry Plantinga, hplantin @calvin.edu, a professor of computer science at Calvin College.

The Electronic Text Center

Holdings include approximately 70,000 on- and off-line humanities texts in thirteen languages, with more than 350,000 related images (book illustrations, covers, manuscripts, newspaper pages, page images of Special Collections books, museum objects, etc.) Some are restricted, but many are publicly accessible, including 65 titles of the Middle English Collection, The Works of William Shakespeare, English Religious Sources, British Poetry, 1780-1910, African-American Experience, and Early Modern English Materials. Internet Public Library

The IPL Books Collection (formerly known as Online Texts) contains over 20,000 titles that can be browsed by author, by title, or by Dewey Decimal Classification. They can also be searched using an online search form. Hosted by the University of Michigan.

The Online Books Page

The Online Books Page is a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. It includes more than 17,000 English works in various formats. All should be free for personal, noncommercial use. Founded and edited by John Mark Ockerbloom. Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Library.

The Perseus Digital Library

Among the full text books available online are classics in Greek, Latin, and English Renaissance Literature; the Bolles Collection on the History of London, and the Library of Congress' American Memory: California, Upper Midwestern U.S., and Chesapeake Bay. The Boyle Papers on the History of Science. Perseus is a non-profit enterprise, located in the Department of the Classics, Tufts University.
