Avalon Project
A digital archive that includes historical documents in politics, law, history, economics, government and diplomacy. Maintained at the Yale Law School. There are also links to supporting documents referenced in the body of the texts. Includes the text of the United States Constitution and Declaration of Independence as well as lesser-known documents.

National Election Studies
NES conducts national surveys of the American electorate in presidential and midterm election years and carries out research and development work through pilot studies in odd-numbered years. The NES time-series now encompasses 23 biennial election studies spanning five decades. The longevity of the NES time-series greatly enhances the utility of the data, since measures can be pooled over time, and both long-term trends and the political impact of historical events can be identified.

National Political Index
The National Political Index is a web site which provides an index of substantive political information for voters, political activists, political consultants, lobbyists, politicians, academicians, and media editors with a wide range of products, information, services, simulations, games, and polling in an interactive communications environment. Funded by the nonprofit group Americans Who Work for a Living.

Candidates issues and much more. Research on the backgrounds and records of over 12,000 candidates for public office.Voting records, campaign finances, position statements, backgrounds, and the evaluations done on them by over 100 competing special interest groups.

Rand Institute
Rand, is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision making through research and analysis. It provides analysis in the following areas: national defense, education and training, health care, criminal and civil justice, labor and population, science and technology, community development, international relations, and regional studies. Provides a number of free full-text reports online.

Urban Institute
The UI is a nonprofit policy research organization. Its goal is to improve government decisions and their implementation, and increase citizens' awareness about important public choices.

Welfare Information Network
WIN serves as a clearinghouse for information and policy analysis. Covers many topics from Adult Education to Youth Development.

World Directory of Think Tanks
Produced by the National Institute for Research Advancement, this site has links to public policy institutes worldwide. Standard information about each includes location, executive officer, history and scope, areas of research, and research findings and publications.
